The new darlings of the music blog world, the Summer of 2008 will be remembered as having belonged to the Vivian Girls. The scarcely one-year-old workaholic New York City/New Jersey trio have completed two full tours, released three records, including their debut full length, and emerged as the brightest hope in the now vibrant Indie/Noise Pop scene. Their reverb-drenched pop sound combines elements of the classic C86 sound (Shop Assistants, Jesse Garon & the Desperados, Bubblegum Splash, etc.), the American bands who loved it (Black Tambourine), while maintaining an invigorating contemporary rawness. Their self titled debut full length, which sold out hours after release will be reissued on In the Red in September. -Michael Goodstein Sept 2008 (WFMU Playlist and Archive)
