Notes: This recording comes from the vinyl bootleg “(Tom Waits) Takes New York”. This bootleg was pressed on “splash wax” and is only 1 of 100 copies produced. The front insert boasts that these vinyl bootlegs were pressed from the ORIGINAL STAMPERS.

There is no real identifying information anywhere on this bootleg to distingush the label, although the accompanying catalog inserts read “ORIGINAL STAMPER SERIES” at the top. The only icon I can associate with the potential label shows a large kitchen chef smoking a cigar with a stack of black vinyl records (see photos…)

The condition of this vinyl bootleg was Near Mint on Sides A and D, and VG+ on sides B and C when they were played back to perform the digital transfer.

The exact date of this show has been disputed a few times in the past. Etree has four separate dates for this performance which include October 10, 14, 15, and October 18. October 18 is what is listed on the front paper insert of this bootleg, so that’s the date I’m going with.

There are a few audible cuts between some of the songs – This is because the songs pressed on this bootleg are not in the proper order of which they were performed.

Side C is from the Montreal Jazz Festival at the Expo Theatre in Montreal, QB on July 3rd, 1981. The specific source for this performance I believe is from the Proshot TV broadcast, but I do not know for a fact.

I’ve listed the tracks in the order of which they were pressed. Yes, I’m aware that side c interupts the ’87 show :P

The total running time of this entire 2 LP bootleg is 80 minutes and 43 seconds. If you want this recording to fit onto a single CDR, I recommend only burning sides A, B, and D for it to fit.

Enjoy!
