Jan and Dean – Keystone Berkeley

here is the info file from Dime

Jan and Dean Mega-rare restored vinyl “Recorded Live at the Keystone Berkeley”, 1978-09-22 AUD – speed corrected, rejoined and EQ’d – great show (mp3 sample included)

From a supposedly “authorized bootleg” (yeah, right), this is a fun set with the Papa Doo Run Run backup band. Hey guys, if this is authorized, why doesn’t it show on the artists own website? I’ve checked there, on Amazon’s Jan and Dean webstore, and on various places on the web and can’t find any reference to this album except on a very few bootleg trade lists. If it is authorized, that’s news to me.

The boys play their old classics, then proceed to rock out. They play harder and closer to the bone than you might expect, it’s an eye-opener to think these guys would do that. This LP ran almost half a semitone fast, and the sound was muffled as well. Careful EQ in three passes brought out most of the performance. You’ll have a ball listening to it.
