Joy Division are set to be the subject of a new box set gathering together some of their finest moments.

Joy Division had a tragically short career, yet their music has an enduring influence. Only releasing two albums, both ëUnknown Pleasuresí and ëCloserí have become pivotal texts in British rock music.

Now a new box set aims to bring together some of the finest moments in their back catalogue. Set to be released in December through Rhino Records, the ten disc box set will be enigmatically named + -.

The box set contains ten seven-inch singles, moving between the distinct phases in the bandís career. Beginning as Warsaw, Joy Division took enormous steps in a short time – a fact made clear on the new box set.

Curated by journalist and Factory associate Jon Savage, + – is limited to just 5000 copies, with the first 500 being individually numbered.

Re-mastering was overseen by drummer Stephen Morris, who worked with Metropolis Studiosí Frank Arkwright. Meanwhile the box set also features artwork from Joy Division collaborator Peter Saville.

Due to be released on December 6th, the initial 500 copies will contain a piece of art from Peter Saville. Meanwhile, anyone who buys a physical copy of the box set will be able to download an mp3 version for free.

Beginning with the track “Warsaw” the box set follows the path of the bandís singles. Roughly following the tracklisting of the previous “Substance” collection adds “As You Said” and “Incubation”.

Also containing two versions of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” the box set ends with “Isolation” and “Heart And Soul” – no actual singles were taken from the band’s final album “Closer”
