Nobody Sings Dylan Like Dylan, Vol.35: Salute Him When His Birthday Comes

Happy Birthday, Bob!* I was going to open this with “Song to Woody” and close it with “Beyond Here Lies Nothin'”, but the ending seemed too bleak, so we leave you with Joan Baez and the appropriately sentimental “Forever Young.” Lots of highlights here, but I call special attention to Leon Russell’s brilliant rendition of “Masters of War,” which I’ve segued directly into Neil Young’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.” These two masterful reinterpretations are what covering Dylan is all about.

As always, a big thanks to the tapers, the original uploaders, the nice folks who’ve sent me recordings, the fine artists who’ve created cover artwork, and especially the performers and most of all the composer. Due to the many different sources, I am not including lineages. I have done nothing to the original files but normalize the levels and fade in and out on each track (using Cool Edit), with the exception of track 3, which was edited by John234 (Thanks John!) to exclude Elvis Costello’s interlude of “The River in Reverse.” The full version is available on the tracker. If you’ve got something good that deserves consideration for future volumes, PM me.

*Yes, I know his actual birthday is May 24. I wanted to get this up early for all the weekend dimers.
