Bob Seger – Lookin’ Back: The Box

This is a 4 disc compilation which I once had the chance to obtain. It contains a lot of unreleased and unavailable Seger stuff. As it is extremely rare I didn’t find any information about this specific box on the internet. However, I did a lot of research trying to find out as much as possible about these recordings but it was pretty much impossible to find accurate information for everything. The original CD covers of this release were not of any help either because they are incomplete and unprecise. I included all the information I could find + scans of the original covers.
Certain songs which were released officially had to be removed, 12 album tracks and 13 tracks from early singles to be exact. Unfortunately that is almost everything from disc 3. In total I removed 25 of 77 tracks.
Some of my personal highlights are:
– “I Am Woman, You Are Man” – an unfinished song in the vein of “Jody Girl”
– “Fat Man in the Bathtub” – a rocking Little Feat cover
– “Yesterday Rules” – great ballad, should be part of the “Back to the Future” soundtrack
– “Carfax Abbey” – the most unusual Seger tune ever! A song about vampires…I believe – concerning Bob Seger – there has never been anything quite like this collection on DIME.
