BUCKNER BOX: Richard Buckner Live 1996
Now that so many of us are basking in the dark glow of OUR BLOOD, Richard Buckner’s excellent new recording (surely you’ve bought it?!? Make sure you get the European version with 3 bonus tracks – worth hunting it down), I’ve decided to reach back 15 years into the vault, so those of you who are just turning on to this incredible songwriter can explore the early seeds of his genius. If you haven’t heard him live from the early days, this box set will sew it up for you. This has been off the trackers for so long that I’m reseeding it as a new version – new FLAC’s, and new scans of my original artwork.
My DAT archive of Buckner is quite large. These 1996 soundboard shows were assembled as a box by me in about 1999. In order to make them flow on 74 minute CD’s (that was pre 80-minute discs), I removed dead air and tunings (which were many). The flow and atmosphere has been preserved and not a second of talking or music was touched. More about that below.
I’m proud of the longevity this box has had out there. You can find it online at any time (albeit in a lossy format), but only here will you have the lossless, straight-from-DAT goodness.

NOTE: In order to make this fit onto 3 CD’s, back when I got the box together, the odd gap of long silence, or lengthy tuning, etc., was removed to allow the music to flow more organically. So, please keep that in mind; if you are looking for shows that are in no way tampered with, look elsewhere. I have taken great pains to insure that there is a natural and non-edited feel to the shows, and I didn’t take anything out that would damage the integrity of the performance. I made these for my own listening. And now yours.
I have made packaging for this box, designed to fit inside a triple-disc CD box…you know, the old-school ones (well, it WAS designed in ’98!).
This project was a labor of love, to help spread the music of a seriously under-appreciated, powerful songwriter. I finally got to meet Buckner in 2003, when he came over for lunch and a stroll in our neighborhood. But that leads to another torrent…
