Joan Baez – Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski

here is the info file from Dime

Joan Baez – guitar, vocal

November 19, 1985

Lublin, Poland

KUL – Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski (Catholic University of Lublin)

Lineage:

SBD > Compact Cassette > Denon DRW 585 > Edirol R-09HR > Protools LE 7.3.1 > xAct > flac > Audacity (down to 16/44)

Original restoration and mastering: hennwill (Hennessy Williams)

Slight editing of order and new artwork: Unwanted Man Music

In the originial upload, Donna Donna was first, then followed by the introduction. So it seemed the original producer of the cassette had edited the order of the songs. I moved Donna Donna to the end, so the show would start off with the introduction. Why the end? It seemed like the right place. After singing two well known political anthems (Blowin in the Wind and We Shall Overcome), it would make sense for Joan to come back and give the audience a familiar folk song from her early career.

I also resampled down to 16/44kHz. The original upload was at 48kHz.

Incomplete concert. Total time is around 54 minutes.

Because concerts like this were banned (Poland was a communist country then), Joan Baez played a secret gig at the Catholic University of Lublin. The whole show lasted about 90 minutes, but for technical reasons only this material was published by “Oficyna Szczecin” and sold through underground distribution channels.
