Armadillo, (Clyde Auditorium) Glasgow – 20.nov.2011
The Glasgow Clyde auditorium or as its knowing locally “the armadillo” is a differant Kind of venue for Gillian and Dave having played the energetic barrowlands and the Renfrew ferry in previous visits to the city.
Its FORMAL seating as Gillian refers to is more for the listening audience and this was very much the type of Gig we had. APPRECIATIVE loving caring (crying fans!) the sound in the venue is particularly good and stunning vocals and daves Guitar made this one of the Best gigs i can remember in a FIRST time seeing an artist
The reason I called this Recording “at the artists request “could have been Gillian and daves request to have Glasgow included in the tour instead of the planned Edinburgh gigh when the tour was being set up ,as heard in the story on the recording..
BUT its actually a bit more obscure than that. On the way into the venue small pieces of white paper were stuck on the wall saying NO FILMING NO AUDIO OR VIDEO RECORDING ..AT the ARTISTS REQUEST… so a suitable NOD to that…
The Banter was amazingly funny as was the practised sad song intros and the DAVE RAWLINGS hat and Hair routine .
we shared this fabulous gig with Rikki Ross (deacon blue and americana dj)and Karen Matheson and Donald shaw(Capercaillie) and a couple of thousand fans of all ages and descriptions …
This was MY own first gig seeing these two amazing artists recently introduced to me by my friend of several decades Peter “chuckles” cunningham (for whom this recording is dedicated) I loved it and im particularly HAPPY with the recording
