New Zealand trio plus guests that’s gotta be the messiest band on Flying Nun. Chaotically self-recorded & shaggy songs. So much so that you can imagine the folks at Shadoks & various mastering houses in tears over their work on the transfers. A few hokey acoustic singalongs, but when they decide to kick up the dust the guitar is very close to contemporary under the radar stuff. Many moments of frayed & wistful melody that might’ve been left in an outtake by Dan Treacy. Singer is also an uncanny ringer for Jennifer Herrera. Carousing piano waltzes, bits of country-punk, lots of mouth noises or chinese new year toys in place of instruments.
