Another absolute lost Flying Nun classic originally issued in a small edition of 300 copies then a few years later by Bruce Russell on Xpressway in only another 100 (not there’s an LP I’ve always wanted to see). Darren Mock’s Drunken Fish I believe threw another 500 copies to the pile, this time on CD, and we really haven’t heard much about this record ever since.
Definitely a high point in Peter Jefferies catalog, and really the only record that I am aware that actually has Lonie as a writing credit. And given the instrumentation here, this seems to be an equal effort collaboration. And so, so nicely done at that. Jono’s playing is much akin to that of Vini Reilly’s Durutti Column (easily my favorite all time artist), and Jefferies seems to follow suit in a usually gentle, almost meditative mode. Such a beautiful record. Lonie’s playing, especially. Fans of 3 album Wire, early Colin Newman, also take note.
