Not only is the double-sided picture sleeve a brightly-inked feast for the eyes, but the three songs enclosed within incorporate the more dangerous technologies and pharmaceuticals of the `90s within the falling-down drunk and belligerent `60s-Detroit-via-’70s Australia band ethos. “Jumper Cable X” scorches the most hair off the hindquarters, with a snowballing chaos level and howling, hound dog vocals comparable to Made To Be Broken-era Soul Asylum but faster. Together with “Boychucker,” the songs rip through enough thrill-a-second action chords, bennie-gulping tempos, muffled cries from a vocalist stuffed in an Impala’s trunk, clutch-dropping rhythmic gasps and overall frantic emanations to make our scheduled Fourth of July Coney Island escapades seem like a visit to the aquarium instead.
