As another Jazzfest approaches, I thought it would be a good idea to feature some New Orleans music. This is what I hope to be the first of a multi-part series, each featuring a different theme of New Orleans music. This is somewhat limited by the rarity of ROIO’s of the earlier New Orleans artists. Some who might fit this title, Snooks Eaglin, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown and some others, will be part of a separate Blues entry. Some of the artists here will appear in others.

Thanks to all those who tape, seed, master and generally make this stuff available. I’m sure I’ll miss somebody. No slight intended if I do.
