Album info
I’m upping a v0 of this just so it appears at the top again so anyone who hasn’t heard this sees it because it’s frigging amazing and one of those stop-dead-in-your-tracks records.
some idiot whose username ends in ‘rats’ wrote:
Renderers crashing into Charalambides crashing into Les Rallize Desnudes crashing into the Dead C. But none of those. Listening with headphones loud I may have seen the goddess when one part was recorded so loud that it bled onto other tracks in the source tape and there’s just this warm orange bliss as if you accidentally swallowed 4 oxycontins that you thought were vitamins and they just hit you and don’t know it yet and then you realize you can’t tell if it’s vocals with crazy effects or electrified viola or guitar or organ or all of them or what. Zero pretense, totally accessible and approachable. Fucking amazing. My new favorite band ever.
yr original description sez:
Fire Records and Bo Weavil Recordings are extremely proud to present the long awaited re-issue of The Garbage & the Flowers classic double album Eyes Rind As If Beggars, a sprawling collection of fragile melodies, abrasive improvisations and velvet voices. The story of The Garbage & the Flowers, by some measure Wellingtons most brilliant pop band, is equal parts classic underground rocknroll and a hazy ramshackle history pockmarked with bursts of genius and stoned rehearsals.
Rare is it for any band to garner so much underground acclaim whilst leading such a nebulous existence. A small handful of releases, compilation appearances and few live shows make for a curious stop/start history. Tension can produce the goods and tension was what watered The Garbage and the Flowers.
Yuri Frusin (guitar, songwriting) and Helen Johnstone (viola, vocals, now bass) met in their teens sometime in the 1980s.
This is a rocknroll classic which will whip the wigs off all the crystalline clowns today.
Available in a gatefold 2LP version and CD version. Both versions come with a bonus full length CD of additional material.
