Hackamore Brick
I was introduced to this record by my buddy Mike when we were working at the ill fated Midnight Records together. We got something like ten copies in, all white label promos, as an old record store brought in a bunch of their unsold records for us to try to unload. There were quite a few gems in there too, all priced as they had been ten years previous.
If you are at all interested in a lite version of The Velvet Underground, look no further. This record is actually pretty good.
Ladies and gentlemen, for your listening pleasure, Hackamore Brick.

Most of the crate-digging heads will all be like, “duh” but this is for the 5 #ITers that have never heard of this band. Oddly enough, after I nabbed it I saw I had a tune by this band already on the Hangover Helper mix from Eerowen, king mixmaker of the world atmo. Eerowen knows.
Referred to as a VU lite, I actually hear this as an early powerpop band in the way that Badfinger and Emmit Rhodes are, or even some of the later VU jawns like Who Loves the Sun. All the songs are from the pov of a young sad guy, and there’s bright twangy single-coil Fenders all over this. Also some VUey kinds of stuff going on.
Worth a listen if you’re into any of those.
