This LP new Nurse With Wound LP comes exclusively with the tracks ‘Bei Mir Bist Du Schon’ and The Bottom Feeder’, and features versions of ‘Cruisin’ For A Bruisin’ and ‘Thrill Of Romance…?’ different from those appearing on the Huffin’ Rag Blues CD. In keeping with the trashy ’50s imagery on the sleeve, those latter two pieces channel a ponderous, plunderphonic swingtime feel with hints towards old-school rock & roll, with collaged traffic sounds and even a vocal on ‘Thrill Of Romance…?’. At one stage during ‘Cruisin’ For A Bruisin’ the rhythmic tide shifts to embrace a huge hip-hop inflected beat, taking you into a territory you wouldn’t necessarily associate with the often intensely challenging Nurse With Wound sound. a more experimental, understated approach is evident on ‘Bei Mir Bist Du Schon’, which once again calls upon vocals, but only in a fashion that’s consistent with the creepy tonal currents that characterise the piece.
