James Taylor – Mega-rare Restored Vinyl “Live In NY Nov. 1972” (pt2) RCMH NY 1972-11-04 Very Nice AUD – Speed-corrected and Rejoined (mp3 sample and scans included) Great show!
I was actually at this concert at Radio City Music Hall, but I don’t remember much as a classmate of mine and I got convinced (by a soda attendant, no less!) that Mr. Taylor himself would come out and see us. We waited most of the show there. Oh, those days of misspent youth! At least she was nice to look at…
There is a version of this show listed on the James Taylor website, but that one is a double-album budget reissue of two single albums. Are you listening, Mr. Taylor? The album you have here is part two from the original pressing on Country Records. The first volume had “Sweet Records” on the label, and the insert ha a slightly different picture from the one on this album. Neither one of them indicates a first or a second part of the show, just the track listings are different.
I only saw the first part of this show for sale once, back in 1973. The second part I saw twice, and got it the second time I saw it. So if anyone has the first part, please put it up!
I’d have to rate the show right up there with James’ best, and the recording at about an 8 out of 10. It’s a really well-done performance.
This record required major speed-correction on the turntable, I think you’ll like the results.
