Review / Description
————
new eits. and i can´t find a proper review. my personal view is that the band seem to have left the most obvious postrock clichés behind. no buildup to crescendi but more a steady pulse with moaning guitars like. whatever, for what it´s worth, i like it.
pitchfork says:
On April 26, the epic Texan instrumental rock band Explosions in the Sky return with Take Care, Take Care, Take Care (Temporary Residence Ltd.), the band’s first studio album since 2007’s All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone. The band produced the album themselves, with John Congleton (Modest Mouse, Walkmen) recorded and mixing. We’ve got the tracklist below. Also below, you can hear a clip of music from the album set to some totally fucking sick basketball footage. Too bad the NBA didn’t let Explosions in the Sky join this year’s Slam Dunk Contest; they would’ve owned that shit.
The band has a few shows coming up on both sides of the Atlantic, including a headlining date at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, with Low and Eluvium opening. If you’ve ever seen the band live, you know their slow-building churns can make for a moving spectacle. The idea of seeing them inside a venue as huge and gorgeous as Radio City is the kind of thing that makes me want to book a flight to New York. Dates below.
