The Progressive Blues Experiment was the first 12" LP recorded by Johnny Winter, Tommy Shannon and Uncle John Turner. The Progressive Blues Experiment was originally issued on Imperial and did not see major-label release until after the success of Johnny Winter’s first CBS album. Johnny plays here in trio with his late sixties band. This record is pure blues. Several blues artists are covered including BB King ("It’s My Own Fault"), Sonny Boy Williamson ("Help Me"), and Slim Harpo ("I Got Love If You Want It"). In 2005, Capitol issued an 24-bit remastered edition of this recording on CD.
