On the title track of The Day Everything Became Nothing, Nomeansno sound like they’re trying to simultaneously channel Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa and Johnny Rotten. This is snotty, totally twisted stuff with a solid rhythmic underpinning and incredibly tight playing. Tight is the key word for the rest of the EP, with fine instrumental performances from the Wright brothers. Perenially un-credited vocalist Andy Kerr (listed here as “Someone (But We’re Not Sure Whom) does another bang-up job here; you’re never quite sure whether to laugh or to cringe away in horror. The EP was included with the CD issue of the following full-length album, Small Parts Isolated and Destroyed.
