Album info

This is probably Vini Reilly’s most personal and intimate release to date. Recorded Spring of 2011 during the time of Vini’s breakup with his girlfriend, Poppy, as well as during a time of unstable health. The release was intended to debut in time for a series of performances April 2011, but due to the various life circumstances, the final recording had been delayed and was instead reworked by Vini and only released in a “pre-release” fashion strictly for the shows. Apparently the final album will be released in January 2013 and we be quite different from the songs included here. Primarily a full band effort, there are also solo moments of Vini singingly weakly with his guitar. While not considered final by Vini, the album is as polished as any others and perfectly documents where Vini was physically and emotionally at the time with stand-out tracks scattered throughout. A bit more “experimental” than recent albums and a standout in general not to be misseed. The album builds with a few Vini-Metcalfe scorcher explosions turning the volume up and finish things off. Several tracks here could be considered the band’s best yet (see “Emptiness” for sure).
