A powerful show in a magnificent venue! :-)

Built in 1960 with a seating capacity in the 2,000 – 2,500 range, the ThÈ‚tre de la Mer in SËte, Southern France,

is a beautiful outdoor amphitheater located on a promontory point 60 feet above the sea.

Of all open-air shows I’ve attended, this is by far the one with the most lavish setting!

There was no backdrop behind the stage, instead you could see the sunset on the Western Mediterranean Sea,

then at nightfall you could behold the spectacle of all the late night ships going to Spain, Morocco and Algeria :-)

Of course, being by the seaside, it was also quite windy, which you can hear at times on the recording, unfortunately.

I tried my best to attenuate the wind noise, to make it as unobtrusive as possible.

Apart from the wind, there was one stoned-to-the-bone, screaming fella located right behind me during a couple of numbers (end of #7, then #8 and a few subsequent #s).

After awhile, I decided to get rid of him by switching spots with one of my wingmen ;-)

As usual during the 2010 tour, the show opens with the Gary Shider tribute, “Maggot Brain” performed by Michael Hampton.

This recording is lovingly dedicated to my brothers in funk that night, Purple Kiss and Dizzy! ;-)

Enjoy this recording, it was a great concert I’ll never forget! :-)

Peace! :-) MM.
